*** DANGEROUS HEAT ALL THIS WEEK ***
Highs will be in the upper 90s to around 100 through the weekend and into most of next week. Dangerous heat index values of 110° to 115° will persist through most of next week with some coastal areas as high as 120° Monday and Tuesday. There will be a slight to moderate chance for those afternoon/evening cooling showers and thunderstorm today and tomorrow. These very hot days will persist through all of next week.
Tropical Weather:
A tropical wave approaching the Lesser Antilles has dissipated. Another wave well east of the Lesser Antilles is moving westward but it too will most likely move into hostile weather conditions and dissipate in a day or two. The next names on the list are "Dolly" and "Edouard" but it is unlikely that these names will be used soon. In the Pacific, hurricane Lala is approaching the big island of Hawaii which will dump extremely heavy rains up to 25" in the higher terrain with tropical storm force winds and heavy rains expected for Oahu on Sunday.
The drought conditions have improved a bit over the past week with those periods of rain. (See Drought Maps).
